OW, OW, OW OW OW!!!!

I've been away for the weekend with my other half and ouch!! We went away for the weekend - this is our first trip away, just the two of us since I was diagnosed in Oct 2008 - early Valentines weekend Love . Anyway - there was a little sightseeing to be done and a turn round a museum - nothing strenous compared to our previous trips - or so I thought!!!

Since diagnosis I've always had trouble with my left foot and boy am I feeling it now!!!Blink

My question is.....how long do I leave it to recover before I seek help from my rheumy team? I know I've overdone it and that's why it's so sore so I'm taking max diclofenic a day now (usually only take 50mg) to see if that helps and will obviously be walking as little as possible and then only in my trainers - it's just so swollen and sore - any suggestions gratefully received!

Hi Ju,

Oh the price you pay for having a good time! Hope the Valentine's part of it made it worthwhile! Smile

I'd say it will take a good couple of days to settle down again. I'd really take it easy. Fish out a book you've been dying to read and make yourself comfy. I've found in the past, when I've overdone it and not given myself rest time, it can bring on a flare-up.

If it hasn't shown some signs of improvement by Friday, I'd give the Rheummy dept a call.

Hope you're back on your feet soon

Hi Ju, glad you got a weekend away but sorry you are having to pay now. It's usually 2 or 3 days for me in this situation. Hope you can find time to rest.

Hi Ju,

What meds do you take other than Diclofenic (very hard on the tum)??

Rest for a few days and ring the rheumy if things continue as painfully....

Love,

Amanda

Many thanks to all for your kind replies. I'm feeling a little better now - it's not so sore any more - it's more 'tight' than any thing else if you understand my description! I'm resting - well, as much as you can with a commuting job and two children under the age of 4 - and it seems to be doing the trick.

Amanda - I take 20mg MTX, and 5mg pred as well as the 150mg diclo. The diclo I've been prescibed is the enteric coated one, one tablet three times a day.

It is annoying this has happened now as I had felt I was doing quite well and at my clinic appt last week we set out a plan for further reduction of the pred but I might put that off a week or so as I'm feeling generally achy as well as having the hurty foot - I seem to bwe feeling it in my wrists again too so I hope I haven't induced a flare up!

Ah well - that's RA life I suppose!
